Cyber Essentials FAQs

What is Cyber Essentials certification?

Cyber Essentials is the UK government-backed certification scheme, run by the National Cyber Security Centre and delivered by IASME. It shows your business has the basic controls in place to protect against the most common cyber attacks. It's renewed every year, and more and more customers and public sector contracts ask suppliers to hold it.

How much does Cyber Essentials cost with CCSW?

CCSW Cyber Secure costs from £100 a month for businesses with up to 9 employees, rising to £450 a month for 250 or more. That one price covers the Cyber Essentials assessment fee as well as monthly scanning, penetration testing, dark web monitoring and remediation. Prices exclude VAT and are on a 12-month term alongside your CCSW managed support.

What's the difference between Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus?

Cyber Essentials is a self-assessment, checked and certified by an assessor. Cyber Essentials Plus adds a hands-on technical audit, where the assessor tests your systems directly. Cyber Secure includes Cyber Essentials, and we can quote for Cyber Essentials Plus separately.

Is the £25,000 cyber insurance really included?

Yes, for eligible businesses. UK organisations with a turnover under £20 million that certify their whole organisation can opt in to £25,000 of cyber liability insurance, arranged through the IASME scheme. It includes a 24-hour incident helpline, has a £1,000 excess, and renews with your certificate. Policy terms apply.

Is penetration testing included?

Yes. Monthly penetration testing is part of Cyber Secure, alongside vulnerability scanning. Each month's results feed into your cyber report, and our engineers fix what the tests uncover.

Do you cover my area?

We're based in Cardiff and provide Cyber Essentials certification, vulnerability scanning and penetration testing services to businesses across Wales, including Newport, Bridgend and Swansea. Because scanning, monitoring and certification are all done remotely, we can also provide Cyber Secure to businesses elsewhere in the UK.
